Fall 2005 Meeting: "Big House, Little House, Backhouse, Barn: Archival Approaches for Everyone's House
Local historians, genealogists, librarians and records managers joined NEA for a rainy, but successful fall conference on October 14-15 at the University of Vermont, in Burlington. Attendees chose from among a dozen different workshops and discussion groups designed to better manage historical records.
Sessions benefited both professionals and volunteers who manage historical records. Topics covered included: dealing with software choices for small and large institutions; access to confidential records in government archives; student papers and FERPA in academic archives; archives in public libraries; outreach; archival issues in folklore collections; and three archival discussion groups geared toward those associated with academic institutions, government offices, and local historical societies, libraries, and museums.
