Farmers' Night: The Music of World War I
When
2014-02-26
7:30 PM
Location
Vermont State House, Montpelier, VT
Presented by the Vermont Historical Society, the Vermont Philharmonic Chorus will sing "Oh You Twenty-Sixth Division," music written and published in Vermont by Fritz Buchner. Copyrighted in 1919, the song pays homage to the New England men of the 26th Infantry Division, nicknamed the "Yankee Division," part of the American Expeditionary Force in World War I. Eight other songs will be included as well as several readings. In addition, the Bethany Baritones will add their resounding harmony for a musical evening filled with choral emotion and tribute to the soldiers who served in the Great War.
Marking 2014 as the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of WWI, this event is free and open to the public thanks to sponsors Denis, Ricker & Brown, Isham-Berwick Agency, Inc., and the American Legion Auxiliary. Call (82)828-2180 for more info or see www.vermonthistory.org/calendar.
