2005 Hale Award Recipient:
The Richard W. Hale, Jr. Professional Development Award was presented to Selene Colburn, special assistant to the dean for outreach, development and planning, University of Vermont Libraries. She will use this award to develop an article for publication outlining the challenges and successes of the St. Johnsbury Community Archives and its implications for regional archives initiatives. Individual NEA members are invited to apply for this $1,000 award which may be used for "participating in an educational program or workshop, preparing a paper for possible publication or oral presentation, attending a professional meeting, or any other activity promoting professional development." This award is named in honor of Dr. Richard W. Hale, Jr., who was archivist of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 1961-1976 and was a founding member of NEA.
