Archives Assistant at Emerson College (Part-time – 15 hrs/wk, up to one year of employment)

Job Description:

Under supervision of the Head of Archives and Special Collections, processes and preserves records of the College. Carries out other duties and projects as assigned, including the following:

Duties:

* Assists with processing of special collections, and creating finding aids.
* Assists with transfer, storage and disposition of inactive records.
* Assists with weeding of collections.
* Assists in developing records schedules.

Qualifications:

* Demonstrated practical knowledge of archival policies and procedures.
* Ability to work independently and to exercise initiative and judgment.
* Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
* Working knowledge of basic Microsoft Office applications and computing applications.
* Must be able and willing to lift up to 40 lbs.
* Working knowledge of DACs preferred but not required.
* MLIS/MA degree from an ALA-accredited program with a specialization in archives or equivalent combination of education and work in archives or manuscripts environment is preferred, but not required.

Salary:

$20/hr for 15 hours a week.
