Summer Internships at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, Archives Processing Unit
Description:
Interns in the John F. Kennedy Library's Textual Archives Processing Unit participate in a wide variety of projects under the direction of professional archivists. Students have the opportunity to gain career-relevant archival experience in a Presidential Library while contributing to the work of the institution.
After orientation with institutional processing procedures, and under close supervision, archival interns will have the opportunity to arrange, describe, re-house, and preserve materials belonging to the J. Kenneth Galbraith Papers. Interns will be expected to work both independently as well as in teams with other short and long-term graduate-level interns. In addition, interns may expect to learn about other levels of archival description including basic intellectual control and inventory and transfer of non-textual materials to appropriate departments, as well as exposure to the Library's new digital initiative.
Qualifications:
Candidates will ideally be currently enrolled in a graduate program in archival studies, have experience processing materials in an archive, or have other relevant archival experience.
