P/T Records Retention Clerk at the City of Somerville Clerk's Office
Description:
TITLE: P/T RECORDS RETENTION CLERK – CITY CLERK’S OFFICE
HOURS: 12-18 PER WEEK (Flexible)
SALARY: $16.00-$18.00 PER HOUR
DUTIES:
Performs archiving and records retention duties. Reviews and categorizes records to determine their content and place in the city’s record keeping scheme. Conducts basic preservation activities such as cleaning and re-housing. Shelves and moves large volumes of records. Implements and amends the city’s municipal records retention schedule in light of local record keeping needs and practices as well as the state’s records retention schedule. Assists in managing offsite records storage. Works with staff throughout municipal government to coordinate citywide archiving and records preservation activities. Performs other, related duties assigned by the City Clerk.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Graduate student or recent MA/MS
* Ability to exercise independent judgment
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion with records reviewed
* Ability to be precise and detail-oriented
* Ability to communicate efficiently, both verbally and in writing, and to work well with others in a team setting
* Ability to operate a computer in a Microsoft Windows and Office environment, including familiarity with databases
* Ability to physically access and review municipal records, use a stepladder to access and store records if necessary, and carry large volumes of records
