NEA FALL MEMBER SERIES
Join NEA this October as we launch our first ever NEA Member Series! Visit local archives in each of our member states, meet fellow NEA members, or join us online to discuss the newest JCAS article or hear about newly processed collections.
These events are open to NEA members. Space is limited for each event due to each archives’ unique space requirements. Please note that you MUST reserve a ticket online in advance to attend events. In the occasion that the event is sold out, we highly recommend joining the waitlist. An Archives staff member will reach out to you if a spot becomes available. Unless you've been given permission, please do not show up at the event without registering.

October 16, 2026 at 4:00pm-5:00pm: Tour with the Maine State Archives (ME)

In partnership with the Maine Archives & Museums. Event attendees are invited to visit the Maine State Archives for an overview of the institution’s archives, special collections, and projects. Visit the imaging lab, the research and processing rooms, and the stacks. We’ll look at Maine’s founding documents, Wabanaki history, land office maps, Civil War material, and more.
A happy hour will follow after the tour at 5:15pm. Registration is not required.

October 2026: Northeastern University’s Nancy F. Walker papers

Irene Gates and Molly Brown will present on the recently processed Nancy F. Walker papers and the connections to the Gay Community News/Bromfield Street Educational Foundation records. Discussions about this collection (along with general highlights) will include approaches to sensitivity, privacy, and imaginations of use and outreach events!

Join New England Archivists for a discussion and Q&A with the author of “Factors Associated with the Implementation of the Protocols for Native American Archival Materials: An Exploratory Study.” The paper highlights results from a 2023 survey of archivists and memory workers at non-Tribal institutions with collections related to Indigenous communities, and discusses the factors affecting the implementation of PNAAM.
